INSTRUCTORS

PCE's short courses and plant-site training are taught by a cadre of experienced instructors who have both the credentials and the real-world manufacturing experience that it takes to simplify complex ideas and to help your employees learn and understand. They include:

Daniel C. Fuccella
Daniel C. Fuccella, PE has accumulated over 30 years of plastics design, materials, and processing experience. After joining Dow Chemical Company’s Plastics Department in 1967, Dan devoted the next 23 years contributing to the growth of Thermofil, Inc., a specialty plastics provider, managing quality, applications development, process engineering, marketing, and serving as vice president of plastics materials research and development. In 1992, Dan founded, and serves a president of Applied Technologies, Inc.,a product design and engineering firm located in Cary, North Carolina. . Dan has assisted the Polymers Center of Excellence as an instructor and with client projects since its inception.

Joe Henz
Joe Henz has over twenty years in the plastics industry. A graduate of GE’s Plastics Technology Program, he holds a MS degree in Chemical Engineering and has broad experience in plastics, including polymer processing, material testing, part and mold design, and mold flow analysis.

Joe’s teaching experience includes instructor roles at GE Plastics’ Industry Seminars and most recently at the Eastern North Carolina Plastics Technology Center.

Scott P. Bogue
Mr. Bogue has 23 years of experience in the plastics and rubber industry in the areas of product development, project management, troubleshooting, and quality. His experience includes wire and cable manufacture, flexible ducting, and the extrusion of filament and tubing, along with rubber compounding, calendering, and extrusion.
He is a veteran of the U.S. Army and is editor of SPI's National Certification in Plastics Study Guides. In addition to teaching, he provides authoring, editing, and scriptwriting services to the plastics industry, at www.edit-write.net. He is also available to assist in solving extrusion problems.


Daniel H. (Dan) McWilliams
Dan has over 38 years of experience in the plastics industry. After receiving his M Eng degree in Chemical Engineering from Cornell University he joined The Dow Chemical Company, where he spent the next 28 years in the areas of process design, manufacturing support, lab and pilot scale research and product technical support. He held a number of supervisory and management positions within the foams and films R&D areas before retiring after his last assignment as a development project manager.

Dan moved to Charlotte, NC in 1998 to help found Carolina Compounding, Inc. as its President. He joined the staff of PCE in late 2006, after having been a consultant and extrusion instructor with PCE for several years.

Edward A. Leach
Ed Leach has over 35 years in plastics extrusion and compounding. His experience is wide-ranging, and includes R&D, Process Engineering, operator training, and debottlenecking of extrusion operations. Ed is now an independent consultant and extrusion specialist involved in training, capacity expansion, product production development, and equipment evaluation for clients. Ed is a Chemical Engineer, and the co-author of six papers and one patent.

Richard Hollowell
Richard has worked more than 40 years in the plastics industry, primarily in tooling and plant management. He’s worked for both small, family-owned businesses and Fortune 100 companies, and continues to consult for a wide variety of clients from coast-to-coast. Active in the SPE, he continues to share his knowledge and experiences through his monthly Consultant’s Corner articles in the Carolina’s Section SPEctrogram newsletter.

Wayne Wilson
Wayne Wilson attended Western Carolina University before beginning work in the plastics industry in 1970 in injection molding and has worked in both custom and proprietary molding facilities. He has served as Division Manager and Plant manager as well as in several other job functions during his many years in plastics. Wayne is currently the Corporate Director Safety/Training for United Southern Industries, and is an instructor for the National Certification in Plastics.
