MELT FLOW and RHEOMETRY

MI4

Our Goettfert automated melt indexer, Model MI 4, can be programmed to determine either MVR (Melt Volume Rate) or MFI (Melt Flow Index).

It can determine melt flow using either ASTM or ISO standard procedures.

It is also equipped with a sample cutter for direct weight measurements, if that is desired.

This is a Goettfert Model RT 1000 Capillary Rheometer .  Tests can be conducted over a wide variety of shear rates because of the numerous dies and pressure transducers available.  The apparent viscosity data generated can be exported into spreadsheet and graphical formats.

The capillary rheometer (ASTM D3835) can reveal hidden differences between materials by subjecting them to flow and shear rates that are closer to what a material actually experiences in your process. This test is especially useful when two “identical” materials with the same melt flow rate don't behave the same way in your process.

This is a Goettfert online capillary rheometer that is used in polymer production plants to continuously monitor the melt properties of the polymer being produced.  It is used for online Quality Control and Monitoring.
